Mustang Saribung pass Trekking is a challenging trekking trail in the midwestern part of Nepal. Saribung Pass Trek is a combination of beautiful Himalayan scenery with three above 8000m mountains Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Annapurna. You will be amazed to experience the authentic religions, geographic elevation, Tibetan monasteries, beautiful landscape, and challenging passes. Saribung Trek is newly and discovered in 2006 in Nepal Himalayas. We Himalaya Journey Trekking arrange Saribung expedition as per travelers choice. Saribung trekking trail is situated in an isolated part of the Mustang region of Damodar Himal, close to the border of (Tibet).
Saribung Pass Trek via Upper Mustang is one of the challenging trekking trials with the beaten track of Nepal. This trek gives you the ideal experience because you will see no sign of modernization in this area. Saribung Pass Trek via Upper Mustang includes the exploration of restricted Upper Mustang and hidden Nar Phu valley. Crossing numerous high passes including the De Hults Pass (6225 m) makes this trek more adventurous and challenging. Feast your eyes in Saribung Pass, from where you can enjoy the majestic views of Mt. Annapurna II (7,937 m/26,040 ft.), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m/26,795 ft.) Mt. Cheo (6,812 m/22,349 ft.), Mt. Peri (6,296 m/20,656 ft.), Mt. Himlung (7,126 m/23,379 ft.), Mt. Ratnachuli (7,035 m/23,080 ft.), and many more.
Saribung Pass Trek is a mixture of ancient culture and rugged trial which is a very unique interpretation of lands forgotten by time. This trek will thrive in the small villages, Tibetan cultures, and monasteries. You will experience the cutting high cliffsides and small Buddhist monasteries and have changed little over centuries. You will also pass through another important holy lake for a Hindu pilgrimage called Damodar Kunda (Lake).
This 22-day Saribung Pass Trek via Upper Mustang starts with flying or drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then another flight or drive to Jomsom. From there then the trek begins through Kagbeni, Chele, Geling, Dhakamr, and finally to Lo Manthang. We will have a one-day exploring day in the beautiful Lo Mantahang area. After that, we will then head towards Damodar Kunda to the north side and descend towards the Phu valley via Saribung Pass.
During the trek, you will experience the breathtaking scenery of the wilds and isolated region of Mustang valley. Your trek will be remarkable as you will see the cave, monasteries, typical Tibetan villages, and eroded canyons. As you cross the Upper Mustang then you will pass through Phu Gaon, Meta, Koto, and finally to Dharapani. After that, you will drive to Besisahar and then back to Kathmandu the same day.
As you have to pass through a rugged trail, you need to have a good level of fitness during the trek. Looking at its trial difficulty, walking hours, and the number of days we will rate this trek as difficult. It will be easier if you have good climbing skills or a high-altitude trek. On the way to ascend the pass, you have to go through the high passes with ice and ridges. You will find yourself roaming through many ice folds from Damodar Kunda to Nar Phu valley.
There are two best seasons to trek Saribung Pass Trek in the year. During the Spring, the trek can be done from March to May. While in autumn, it can be done from September to November. These are the best season to do Saribung Pass Trek.
Each of these trekking seasons has something very different to offer during the trek. It includes different terrain, difficulty, weather, and scenery. In a nutshell, let us tell you about subtle differences you will get in these different seasons of the year. This will suddenly help you to plan your trek better.
Spring Season in Nepal falls from March to May and is very stable and dry with a moderate climate. During this month, you will experience fairly perfect trekking, which offers a crystal clear view of mountains and sceneries every day. You will see a lot of crowd in the trial as this season is best to climb mountains.
The temperature will reach around 15 to 20 degrees Celsius in the daytime and drop to 0 to -2 degrees celsius at night time. You will also be welcomed with thousands of flora and vegetation that make the Saribung Pass Trek more beautiful and enjoyable. This month is also the best to view the decorative rhododendron and may spot beautiful birds.
Summer in Nepal falls in the month from June to August. During these months, you will also experience the Monsoon rain, which makes the treks nearly impossible. These months usually do not attract tourists to the Himalayas. The rains in the hilly area wash the bridges, slippery trails, leeches, and landslides.
Autumn is another best seasons of Saribung Pass Trek. Autumn falls in the month from September to November. The weather will be perfect, and the view of the surroundings will be unforgettable. During the initial month of September, you may experience the leftover Monsoon. As of October starts, your door to this trek will be clear.
Winter in Nepal falls from December to February. Trekking to higher altitudes will be challenging during the trek. The temporary teahouse lodge may remain close during the winter. So, Saribung Pass Trek is nearly impossible to trek in the winter season.
