Makalu Sherpani Col Pass Trek or Makalu Three Col Pass Trek traverses Everest via 3 high passes in Nepal Himalayas which is absolutely an adventure walk over 6000 m. This trek takes you to the lap of the world’s fifth highest mountain, Makalu (8,485 m). From varied panoramas, glittering mountain series to an unimaginable whirling glacier, river, and waterfall to forest and tablelands. Trek into the lap of the mountain landscape dotted with terraced farmlands and Sherpa villages. You will grasp the opportunity to insight into the local customs and lifestyle of local tradition.

This trek takes you to the lap of the gigantic peaks of both Makalu (8,485 m) and Everest (8,848.86). Makalu Base Camp with Sherpani Col is one of the most challenging treks of Nepal. Makalu Sherpani Col Pass Trek also connect Everest Base Camp Trek route and experience the immense mountain view of Makalu and Everest region. During the trek, you will experience the views of Everest (8848.86m), Makalu (8481m), Lhotse (8516m), Baruntse (7162m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6814m), Chonku Peak (6830m), Cho Polu (6734m), Island Peak (6189m), Kang Tega (6,782m) among others. Your trek will be more thrilled and enjoyable, as you will pass through towering granite cliffs capped with impressive glaciers and high-altitude lakes.
During the trek, you will cross two national parks so you can enjoy peaceful valleys and beautiful rhododendron forests. You will also be into Himalayan ecosystems with foliage, vegetation, and fauna maintained by conservation. The trial will be full of the natural beauty of unutterable beauty and a striking blend of woods and tiny settlements. The Makalu Barun National Park is one of the largest protected areas in Nepal. This national park is the home to 3,000 species of flowering plants, including a variety of Himalayan orchids, 440 species of birds, and 75 species of mammals. Unique varieties such as the snow leopard, musk deer, and Himalayan Thar live in this pristine ecosystem. This is one of the purposes it has been included in the Sacred Himalayan Landscape initiative of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Your exciting trek starts with 35 minutes scenic flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar. As you land in Tumlingtar, you will drive to Num via local transportation. We will then head towards Sheduwa and descend along Arun River and pass through forested trials and settlements. As we walk ahead, we will reach Tashi Village and then Khonmga Ridge. As we walk ahead, we will pass through rhododendron and oak forests. We will then hit the trail to Donato and reach Yangro Kharka. We will then pass to the alpine tundra, forested path and then we will reach Sherson. And finally, we will reach Makalu Base Camp, where we will see some ridges and icy glaciers.
As we reach Base Camp, the South face of Makalu and Baruntse will stand with pride. After spending quality time in base camp, we will then trek the west side of Barun Glacier. You will then walk along moraines and reach Hillary Base Camp. Ahead, we will then go to High Camp, and you will be rewarded with the chain of Makalu ranges, Baruntse, and other surrounding peaks.
Ahead, the trail is more challenging as you have to cross the rocky slopes of Sherpani Col and West Col to reach Baruntse Base Camp. the trial then goes ahead to Amphu Labtse Base Camp and Imja Lake Camp. Further, we will then trek to Chhukung and continue through Pangboche. Ahead, we will then descend to Namche Bazaar, Lukla, and fly back to Kathmandu.
Makalu Sherpani Col Pass Trek includes diverse landscapes from the lowest 518 m to the highest 6190 m which is an interesting shift in altitude. You will also have to cross three high-altitude passes and passing through the lap of gigantic Himalayas. So without a doubt, the difficulty level of Makalu Sherpani Col Pass is difficult.
If you are a beginner and have not trekked yet, we recommend you do some basic cardio. This is a challenging trek, so you should have good stamina to be safe from altitude sickness. Just try some basic exercises like jogging, hiking, swimming, and other physical activities. During the trek, always hydrate your body with safe and clean-treated water. Dehydration is the biggest enemy during the trek, and you can boost your energy by drinking adequate water.
Makalu Sherpani Col Pass passes through diverse climate zones, so it is a bit tricky to predict weather situations throughout the trek. This trek holds a diverse aspect from 518 m at Tumlingtar to 6,190 m at West Col, which causes an overwhelming variation in the landscape.
Spring month starts from March and continues up until May. Spring is the best season for Trek Makalu Sherpani Col Pass. You will experience close to perfect, and temperatures at high altitudes are still cold during the initial month. You can simply intersect the passes without any challenges in this season. Forest inside Makalu Conservation Area and Sagarmatha National Park starts to bloom, giving the forest extra greener appearances, which feel marvelous. You will get an opportunity to see many fascinating and indeed endangered wildlife on the way to trek.
June to August months fall in the summer season in Nepal and are also recognized as the monsoon season in Nepal. During this season, you will encounter the super-hot in the lower region, especially in the Terai and Hilly regions.
The month of June is the pre-monsoon period, and temperature declines during the downpours and rises on sunny days. Clouds are most likely covers majestic views of the Himalayas, but you may see them occasionally. From July to August, you will experience frequent rainfall. Flight cancellation of Tumlingtar and Lukla may occur during these months.
The autumn season starts from September to November when the monsoon is just leaving its effect. But still, the probability of rainfall is high in the first two weeks. Downpour gradually declines, and gradually skies will be clear where the lush green forest and stunning snow-capped mountain views will come to life. During the season, the trek route will be perfect with not much wind or clouds resulting in the best view of nature and mountains. The autumn season is also the perfect time of the year, and lots of Nepalese festivals happen in this season. The number of tourists will slowly decline in late autumn as the weather begins to get cooler.
The winter season falls from December to February month in Nepal. The beginning of winter is one of the enjoyable times to trek. It is pretty cold at high altitudes, but the appearances of the scenery are crystal clear. In mid-winter, massive snowfall will make your trek difficult or impossible sometimes. High Himalayan passes are yet possible to cross before thick snow seals it down.
Like other trekking routes, the Makalu Sherpani Col Pass Trek requires 2 national park entry fees and TIMS Card. You will cross through two separate national parks called Makalu Barun National Park and Sagarmatha National Park. If you wish to trek individually, you can take a TIMS card from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) or the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) in Kathmandu.
For a national park entry pass, you can take it from Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu. To issue a TIMS card and entry pass, you will need to have a passport, insurance details, passport size photos, and contact details of a person in Nepal.
To receive the TIMS Card:
Fill the form at the Tourist Information Center in Kathmandu. Submit the filled-out form along with USD 20 per person. They only accept Nepalese Rupees, so change your dollars to NPR.
To receive the National Park Entry Pass:

Once you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport, our airport representative will receive you outside the terminal hall and transfer you to the designated hotel. You will see our company signboard or a placard with your name printed on it.
After hotel check-in and refreshments, you can stroll around the street of Thamel to get acquainted with local culture and lifestyle.
Note: If you happen to arrive in Kathmandu in the evening, we will make the trip briefing will be held the next day. But if you arrive earlier than 4:00, your pre-trip meeting will be organized the very day of your arrival.

Today is the free day you can sightseeing around the 7 UNESCO world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath stupa, Swayambhunath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Changunarayan, Durbar Square Patan. You can visit the historical and cultural place Budhanilkantha as well. Today you can buy some stuff which is necessary for you during the trekking. In the evening your guide will come to meet you in the hotel and brief you about the next day's program.
Today in the morning we will drive to the airport right an hour before the flight time scheduled.
We will fly Kathmandu to Tumlingatar it's about 35 minutes adventure flight. During the flight, we can able to catch high mountains and flat grassland in one frame. The flight will be memorable and interesting. After landing at Tumlingtar we will drive to Num village by jeep.

Early in the morning, we will have our breakfast and we start our wilderness trekking journey. Today we will follow the rocky however wide safe path through the greenery forest and beautiful villages. Middle of the day we will have our lunch and continue the hike to Sheduwa village.

Todays our trails like gradually up and downhill trails which leads us up to the lovely sherpa village Tashigaun. We will enjoy and feel the beauty of nature.

Tashi Gaun is a historical and cultural place. We explore the monasteries and Sherpa village and observe the culture of Buddhism. Stay overnight at Tashi Gaun.

Early in the morning, we will have our breakfast, and then slowly we ascend up the hill and descend the downhill, we walk through the greenery forest and cross some small streams. Stay overnight at Khongma.

Today we climb steep uphill first and cross some beautiful greenery ridge on the top then we descend down to Mumbuk, From the way we can observe the view of Mt. Chamlang, Peak 6, and peak 7. Stay overnight at Mumbuk

We wake up early in the morning and have breakfast, then continue on the journey. We ascend almost 500mtr down through rhododendron forest to the Nehe kharka. Nehe kharka is a big and flat grassy land. Stay overnight at Nehe kharka.

As always we will start our journey in the morning. Today we enter to alpine tundra and high altitude, we can get admire a glimpse of panoramic views of high mountains and the mixture of ridges and landscapes. We can able see Mt.everest, Mt.Lhotse, and the south face Of Mt. Makalu from the base camp.

Every day we experience a new challenge and enter the high elevation. After breakfast, we ascend up to the Hillary camp by walking on the dramatic rocky trail. Stay overnight at Hillary camp.

We will have our breakfast early in the morning and then ascend uphill to have fun. After crossing some ridges and facing some difficulties we reach High camp. Stay overnight at High Camp.

Today we will wake up early in the morning than the previous day. Initially, we ascend steeply up to the pass. Today will be the most challenging day, we will move to the next camp by facing adventure difficulties in the Himalayas and crossing both high passes Sherpani cole, and the West cole pass which is situated at over 6000meter elevation. After crossing both passes we ascend down to the Baruntse base camp. Stay overnight at Baruntse basecamp.

After breakfast, we will start to descend down to the Seti Pokhari then we move towards North-West to the Amphu Labtsa base camp. We cross some beautiful lakes and streams, There is a rocky path but not much steep that leads us to our destination. Stay overnight at Amphu Labtsa base camp.

Today is the second next challenging day. Initially, we directly ascend steeply up to the high camp of Amphu Labtsa and adjust the crampons in our boot and climbing gear as well, icy way leads us to the top of the pass. From the top, we can able to see the stunning views of Mt.Everest, Lhotse, Island Peak, and many more mountains. After crossing the pass we follow a narrow rocky trail where we use climbing ropes and gears. Then we move towards the north first and east to the Chhukung. Stay overnight at Chhukung.

Today early in the morning we will have our breakfast and then we begin our journey. Initially, We descend down to the Dingboche, by crossing some streams and ridges. On the way, we can able to panoramic views of the Himalayas like Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Amadablam, Cholatse, Taboche, Thamserku, etc. We can get an opportunity to follow the Everest basecamp trails to Pangboche and can observe the Sherpa culture. Pangboche is a cultural, historical, and beautiful village. Stay overnight at Pangboche.

Our today destination is the Monjo, today we cross the suspension bridge over the Pangboce river and walk through the beautiful rhododendron forest to the Tengboche, then we visit the Tengboche monastery and meditate with monks. After spending some time in Tengboche we continue to descend down to the Phunkitanga and cross a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River then we ascend up to the Kyangjuma and walk through a lap of the mountain to the Namche. Namche is well known as the gateway of Mt.Everest and it is a beautiful and big village. Again we continue to descend down to Monjo by crossing the Dudhkoshi river and walking through the Pine forest. Stay overnight at Monjo.

Today is not so hard a day of trekking. Initially, we gradually descend down to the Dudhkoshi river and walk along with River to the Ghat village, and gradually ascend up to the Lukla by crossing Cheplung village. On the way, we can able to observe Sherpa culture with the Beautiful view of Kongde, Kusum Kyangaru peak. We will celebrate the final day of trekking at Lukla in the evening with the trekking crew member. Stay overnight at Lukla.

Early in the morning, we will have our breakfast or depend on our flight schedule otherwise we will have it at Kathmandu. We move to the airport an hour before the flight time, we will fly with good vibes of trekking. After an adventure and a memorable flight of the Himalayas we land in Kathmandu, and then we will drive to Hotel by our private vehicle, at night we will have our final dinner and farewell at Kathmandu.
Our adventure holiday in Nepal concludes today. Our company customer representative will drive you to the Tribhuvan international airport right before 3 hours of your flight scheduled time.

Makalu Sherpeni Col Pass trekking trail is one of the challenging high passes in Nepal. During this trekking, we will cross two high passes above 6000mtr, it makes memorable and meaningful trekking. By crossing that high passes we can see a lot of scenic views of high mountains alike mt. Everest, mt.Makalu, mt.Kanchanjungha and many more beautiful mountains.
Makalu Sherpeni cole pass is different than other passes trekking by its difficulty, it is a technical pass that needs to fix climbing rope. During this trekking, if we missed the track then we will be missing In the mountain. so you have to be one professional trekking guide with you.
During this trekking approximately 200mtr to 900mtrs will be daily altitude gain.
The highest passes in the Makalu Sherpani Col pass are Sherpeni col(6155m), West Col (6143m), and Amphu Labtsa Pass (5800m).
It takes 21 days to complete Makalu Sherpeni Col pass trekking.
Most of the day we should spend in a tent during this trekking, so we can get that meal prepared by a trekking crew member.
Above 18 years old children can do Makalu Sherpeni Col pass trekking.
Before you commence the trekking you are already prepared for upcoming troubles, in case you get ill during the trekking you should take first aid and come back down as much as possible or fly back to Hospital.
