The top of Thorong Peak offers the mesmerizing view of picturesque peaks like Nilgiri Peak, Tilicho Peak, Dhaulagiri Range, Annapurna Range, and an eye-catching view of the Mustang region.
Thorong Peak Climbing (6114m) is one of the most adventurous and popular treks that takes you around the Annapurna regions. Thorong peak is a moderate peak and fun to climb. Many climbers visit Nepal to trek up to this peak. The tracks allow you to see surprising views of Himalayan ranges like Annapurna Range (8,091 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Mt. Fishtail (6,993 m), Lamjung Himal (6,983 m), Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), Mt. Gangapurna (7,455 m), Mt. Tilicho (4,920 m), etc.
Thorong Peak Climbing is full of adventure and discoveries as you will be walking through Annapurna Conservation Area. This conservation area is blessed with natural and cultural diversities with the magical snow-capped mountains in the backdrop. Thorong Peak Climbing catches through those magnificent landscapes of Mustang and various beautiful valleys like Kaligandhaki valley, experiencing various Nepalese cultures.
After the daring and picturesque drive to Besisahar, your trip begins from the Besisahar and moves towards the Bahun Danda. Along the path, you will appreciate delightful terraced fields and rich backwoods and arrive at Chame. At that point, your journey further proceeds to Manang District, where you will be lost in nature. You will be flabbergasted to see the Tibetan-impacted town and their day-by-day way of life from close. The path again moves into the Chame and afterward Pisang through the forested areas. Delightful summits, trees swing with flowing wind, and the smell of nature striking all around during the walk will be the most amazing phase of your life. As you walk further, you will arrive at Thorong Phedi and the Thorong La, and from that point, you will arrive at Thorong Peak. We will leave the spot instantly with a lot of memories, yet the returning path will offer us excellent attractions. In transit, you will get a chance to observe the heavenly Muktinath Temple, which is sacred for both Buddhist and Hindu Temple. The journey back to Kathmandu gets the Kali Gandaki River going through Jomsom, Marpha, Tatopani, and Pokhara.
Thorong Peak is comparatively easy trekking around the Annapurna region. So, most of the trekkers love to climb Thorong Peak as it leads us to the desert-like areas of the beautiful Himalayas. Thorong Phedi is also the base of Thorong La Pass, which will be our base camp for peak climbing. The next day, we have to start early to climb about a 35 to 40-degree inclination slope. After some hours of an ascent, we ultimately reach the summit.
We don’t need previous experiences to ascend to this peak, but you need a good physical condition to go through this vast land topography as per the requirement. We provide one of the best facilities and companions to reach the peak successfully.
Climbing the Thorong Peak is feasible throughout the year, excluding the Monsoon and Winter season. Spring and Autumn are considered the peak season for trekking and climbing in Nepal.
Likewise, the routes of Thorong Peak are also packed during the Autumn and Spring season. The routes are crowded with lots of trekkers and mountaineers during the peak seasons. Let’s examine each of the best seasons in the following headings:
Autumn Season (September to November)
Autumn is the best time to climb Thorong Peak. September, October, November are the months of the Autumn season, which are the peak times to climb in Nepal. The trails are busy during these months.
September is the first month of the Autumn season that comes just after the departure of the Monsoon season. So, there might be light rainfall during early September as the Monsoon is on the edge of farewell. But the raindrops of the Monsoon season wash all the dust from the terrains and vegetation.
There is greenery everywhere during the autumn season because the raindrops of the monsoon season wash all the dust from vegetation. The streams, waterfalls, rivers, ponds, and lakes get refilled after the Monsoon season. So, it is an excellent time to view the water glory of Nepal.
Moreover, the air is also so cool and chilly during the Autumn. From mid-September, you will witness clear skies and uninterrupted mountain views. The scene from every corner of everything appears so attractive. The autumn season only lacks blossoming flowers, but other things are just perfect. You’ll find a calm, transparent, and dry climate from mid-September till the late-November. This is why most climbers favor the autumn season.
Spring Season (March to May)
Spring is another best season to do Thorong Peak climbing. March, April, and May months fall in the Spring season that welcomes thousands of trekkers and climbers to Nepal. Spring is an unbeatable time for any adventure.
Spring is the season of blossoming wildflowers and green vegetation. The trails to the Thorong Peak are elegantly decorated with several and multicolored flowers and plants. Weather and temperature during Spring are calm and pleasant for climbing. The dry and sunny weather presents clear visibility of the surroundings. The terrain view is just wow when Spring with wide-spreading rhododendron and oak trees.
Thorong Peak trail lies in the classical route of Annapurna Circuit Trek. During the Spring season, you will see many trekkers and climbers on the trails. Thousands of hikers and mountaineers get attracted by the colorful and stable environment of the Spring season.
Winter and Monsoon are the two offseasons for trekking and climbing in Nepal. Winter is the coldest season of all, and Monsoon is the rainy season. This is why most trekkers and climbers don’t pick these seasons for their adventures in Nepal. The Winter months fall from December to February. With the arrival of the winter season, the warmth starts in fall. Monsoon months are also known as summer-fall from June to August. It is the time of hot and humid temperature, and the clouds revolve around the atmosphere of Nepal.
