Yala Peak (5,520m) is a trekking peak in Langtang National Park, close enough to Kathmandu for a compact climbing holiday. The route combines the Langtang Valley’s Tamang villages and glaciers with a non-technical summit that still demands crampons, an ice axe, and a rope team.
From the valley you gain a wide panorama of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and, on a clear day, Shishapangma across the Tibetan border. Nights are in tea houses until the short climbing period, when you use a high camp.
This is a strong first Himalayan peak for fit trekkers who have already walked at 4,000m+. Spring and autumn are best; winter is possible for experienced parties. The trip starts and ends in Kathmandu with a drive to Syabrubesi.
