Trip Overview
Manaslu (8,163m), the eighth-highest mountain in the world, is climbed from the restricted Manaslu region. The approach follows the Budhi Gandaki toward Sama Gaun, with acclimatization before moving to Manaslu Base Camp.
The climbing period uses standard rotations and a summit window in spring or autumn. Restricted-area permits, MCAP paperwork, and a full base-camp kitchen and climbing crew are handled by High Vision before you leave Kathmandu.
Manaslu is often chosen as a first 8,000-metre peak after trekking-peak experience, but it remains a serious climb. Descent is via Sama and Dharapani, then a drive back to Kathmandu.

Safe and sanitary treks of your dreams
Buddhi Rai led my wife and I (and 9 other U.S trekkers aged 40s to 80) on a trek on the Tibetan Plateau (Mustang) and a elephant-and-rhino safari by foot and canoe in Chitwan National Park in October 2025. We took two other treks led by Buddhi to Tsum Valley (2022) and rhododendron trails near Annapurna (2024).
